Carte Blanche is a selection of short films on the themes of music, colour and synesthesia, composed by the animation historian and writer Giannalberto Bendazzi. In this compilation, you will see and hear many classics from both animation and music history. Among the screened films there will be Norman McLaren's "Pas de deux" and "Satiemania" by Zdenko Gašparović.

LA GAZZA LADRA

Italy 1964, 10’

Three kings go hunting with their archers. They are a terrible menace for every bird, but a magpie, endowed with magical means, defeats and ridicules them, closing them eventually in a gigantic birdcage. Music: “La Gazza Ladra” by Gioacchino Rossini.

Two dancers, Margaret Mercier and Vincent Warren, perform their ballet. The frames are re-photographed with an optical printer so that their images multiply on the screen.
