“People don’t understand that to be a human being it isn’t necessary to be six feet tall. What counts is what you have in your head and in your body. And particularly what you have in your soul.” – Michel Petrucciani
Michel Petrucciani (1962 – 1999) was a French jazz pianist. He was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, (a genetic disease that causes brittle bones) and in his case short stature. That did not stop him from gaining international success and acknowledgment.
He was passionate and dazzling and he loved life and women. He didn’t want to waste any time because he probably knew that he wasn’t blessed
with a long life.
Interviews with Petrucciani himself and with hisfriends and family, videoclips from archives and photographs help the director Michael Radford to illustrate his vision of this unique pianist – of a man, who stayed young forever.
Besides the charismatic personality of Petrucciani, the film gives an opportunity to get to know his creation and sources of inspiration.
