The European Film Academy’s Shorts On Tour is a selection of films that have been nominated by juries from a number of renowned film festival across Europe over the past year. Each of the candidate films presented here has the opportunity to become a nominee for the European Film Awards in 2020.
This first programme examines many of the preoccupations of the modern era – amongst them immigration, crime, identity and terrorism – within a varied set of styles and approaches. Whilst the current state of the world means that there’s a certain amount of bleakness here, there are also glimpses of sly and satirical humour and a promise that maybe – just maybe – things will get better.
