In the Aisles

A wonderfully tender hymn to unsung heroes, full of magical realism: They are everyday people, full of complex, yet subdued emotions, working at a big box store somewhere in the Eastern German province. Christian (Franz Rogowski, also starring in TRANSIT) is new to the superstore. He silently plunges into this unknown universe: the endless aisles, the eternal order of the warehouses, the surreal mechanisms of the forklifts that his older colleague Bruno from the drinks department introduces to him. Marion (TONI ERDMANN lead Sandra Hüller) from the confectionary department likes to have a laugh with Christian. When he falls in love with her, the entire warehouse is rooting for him. Both sense a breath of fresh air ... IN THE AISLES is a unique choreography of people and things, desires and dreams by director Thomas Stuber.
