20-year old Setsuko Otori (Mikako Tabe) is blessed with cute looks and a natural-born singing voice. Belying Setsuko's appearance is a stinging tongue that scolds and hurls abuse at anyone and everyone. The true identity of this 20-year-old who's suspiciously "beyond her years" is that of a 73-year-old woman!

Born during the war and raised in the old downtown district of Tokyo, Setsuko lost her husband at a young age and raised her daughter singlehandedly. Her life didn't work out as she had hoped, but now she's getting a second shot at youth! Suddenly rejuvenated, Setsuko goes all out to live life on her terms. She dons a new hairstyle and wardrobe, and even ditches her former name and family to make a fresh start. When she opens her mouth to sing, it touches the soul and instantly endears Setsuko to those around her.

Despite the concerns of Setsuko's daughter, Setsuko is scouted by a handsome music producer and makes her pop performance debut alongside a small-time band member who happens to be her own granddaughter! Setsuko's life finally starts going according to plan, while her longtime admirer Jiro gets caught up in the situation. But will she ultimately realize what's truly important?
